A Single Candle

Think of your life as a burning candle... a tapered one.

Think of how you would start out small and gradually

become bigger and bigger until you reach full size,

much like our own lives.

Think of how once that candle starts burning, it only gets

shorter...there is no adding wax to give us more time.

Kind of depresses you for a moment, doesn't it ?

But have you ever noticed:

How in a room of darkness, the light from a single candle

causes the darkness to retreat ?

How one candle lighting another...takes nothing away

from the original, but brings more light to the room ?

Have you ever thought of how if your one candle

continually keeps lighting other candles and they in turn

light other candles...you have passed on the gift of light

and your flame will never extinguish.

Your suffering will not be in vain.

Your faithfulness will not go unrewarded.

Your light will bring hope in the darkness. We have but

a short time on this mortal earth, and despite what you

might realize...there are things you cannot do in heaven.

You cannot sin, and you cannot evangelize.

Once your eyes close on this mortal world of the living

and lost, your personal light goes out...forever.

But if you have lived a life of Holy purpose, not covering

your light, but let God's radiance shine through you and

brought light to a world of darkness...your light will live on.

Think of your light as a symbol of God's love.

Let your light burn bright. Let your light burn hot,

but most of all share your light.
